The confetti fluttered around them and Kurt stared at his surroundings in awed wonder. They did it. They finally brought home a first place trophy from Nationals and were champions. And instead of slushies to the face, they were being welcomed back with praise.
He could hardly believe any of this was real.
Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion as he glanced around him and noticed Rachel wrapped in Finn’s arms, sharing a glorious kiss. He looked away and saw Tina and Mike pressed closely together, seemingly lost in each other. He smiled sadly and attempted to stray from all the various couples as Santana made a bold move by gathering Brittany in her arms and dipping her dramatically while kissing her fully.
Kurt didn’t want to watch this, didn’t want to have to try and explain to all his friends why their happiness was making him so miserable. He was just about to make a quick dart for the choir room when he felt a strong pair of arms wrap around his waist and pull him backwards.
“What the-“
Blaine pressed him up against the nearest wall and immediately claimed Kurt’s lips with his own. Kurt made a noise of surprise, with eyes still wide and hands spread out before him but Blaine felt so good, so close, that Kurt couldn’t help but sink into him.
Kurt felt Blaine’s arms wrap loosely around his neck, his hands cupping his face and tilting his head as he kissed him deeper. Kurt’s hands settled on Blaine’s hips and pulled him closer, so their bodies were flush against one another and no space was left between them.
Their lips parted and tongues grazed softly against one another. Kurt moaned when he felt Blaine bite down slightly. He pulled away while taking in deep gulps of air.
“Blaine, what’s gotten into you?” Kurt was breathless and flushed but his swollen mouth couldn’t help but turn up into a smile as he held Blaine close.
“We just won Nationals and the school isn’t throwing slushies at our faces for once. So maybe I wanted to kiss my boyfriend to celebrate.” Blaine was grinning, enthusiastic and Kurt could feel his mood seeping into his veins and drawing him in.
“I know, but, they’re just now accepting the fact that the Glee club isn’t a complete social disgrace. I’m not sure they’re ready for us gays to come parading around holding hands and actually making contact in front of them.” Kurt’s smile tugged down and his hold on Blaine slipped; they could be spotted at any moment and Kurt wasn’t about to risk a confrontation so soon after a victory.
“I don’t care. I’m willing to risk it, just this once, so I can kiss the man I love on this special occasion.” Blaine was right. There was no reason why they shouldn’t be allowed to celebrate the same way the rest of their friends were. Besides, they were hidden in the shadows and sharing the moment privately. They were by no means being so public with their affection.
“I love you so much,” Kurt whispered, propping his forehead on Blaine’s. Blaine squeezed him gently and shifted their bodies closer together.
“I love you, Kurt Hummel. Congrats on your first place win at Nationals.”
“Thank you,” Kurt grinned. “Now give your first place winner a kiss before we’re forced to disperse.”
“I’d be more than happy to,” Blaine replied before bringing his lips to Kurt’s once more.
Blaine trots beside Kurt down an unfamiliar New York street and absolutely fails to sightsee.
For the past few hours he’s been suffering from a severe case tunnel vision for his delightfully present boyfriend and unable to get one particular thought from his head.
“Why do you hate me?” he asks.
Kurt gives him a withering sidelong glare. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
“Well, I’d really like to kiss you right now.”
“And I’d like to kiss you.”
Kurt calmly strides towards him through the crowded airport, wheeling his suitcase and smiling like a cloudless sky.
They’d asked Burt and Carole if they could do this alone. It’s the first time Kurt’s been back, and Blaine’s suddenly…
They haven’t spoken for seventy-two hours.
In that time Blaine’s broken one mug, lashed out at his parents and stormed to his room twice, eaten the equivalent of three square meals, had four hours sleep, and cried on and off without warning in the moments when he hasn’t been entirely unresponsive at all.
He’s lost track of how many times he’s picked up his cell to call Kurt.

Series Summary AU in which Blaine is four years older than Kurt and therefore they never meet at Dalton. Kurt ends up at OSU instead of in NYC, where Blaine is a grad-student-turned-professor, and also the object of Kurt’s crushing his sophomore and junior years.
Warnings Lots of sex. In various ways, shapes & forms.
Disclaimer Blaine’s college career was based off my own, so while not orthodox, it is possible to have a doctorate in your late twenties in some fields of study. (I burned out after my masters though, oops – I have faith Blaine could stick it out!)
Thanks To Kerry, who I am forever indebted to for many more reasons than I could put down on paper.

The Setup
Two months after they finally move into their first house, Blaine quits his godawful, only-barely-worth-the-exorbitant-salary-when-Kurt-was-trying-to-start-a-business-from-nothing-and-definitely-not-worth-it-now, suit and tie, office building sales job, exactly six weeks before their first adoption is supposed to go through. He spends the next couple of weeks finally, finally getting around to putting up the border of little yellow ducks and finishing all the brightly-colored painted stencils on the walls of the baby’s room, scoping out every park, playground, and hospital emergency room within a ten mile radius of the house, and obsessively re-reading every baby book in the house. Kurt teases him about it over dinner, but Blaine’s a little scared of babies. Kids, kids are great—babies just seem so breakable.
Three weeks after that, they get the call that their unborn baby’s father is back in the picture and suing for custody, and between his lawyers and the mother’s own indecision, they don’t really have a snowball’s chance in hell of going home with a baby next month. Blaine ends up calling Kurt at work to tell him, and Kurt comes home three hours early even though he’s planning a massive benefit dinner at the Museum of Natural History in four days and a wedding the weekend after next. They go out for pizza and a movie and don’t talk about it, really, until they’re in bed much too early, Blaine curled around Kurt from behind in the dark.
“I really don’t want to have to get another job,” Blaine says out of nowhere.
“You’re not getting another job like that,” Kurt says instantly. “I’ve been trying to get you to quit for a year. We don’t need the money.”
“What do stay-at-home spouses without kids even do all day?” Blaine wonders.
